What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
The term “nutritionist” is not a regulated term. Anyone may call themselves a nutritionist, regardless of their level of education. Dietitians have to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from an accredited university program and complete 1000 hours of supervised practice in a variety of different settings. Dietitians then have to pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s exam to obtain their credentials. In the state of Texas, a dietitian must also hold a state license.
Where are you currently accepting patients?
Our team is currently licensed to provide medical nutrition therapy to clients who live in the states of Texas and Georgia.
Do you provide in person services?
While we are currently a tele-health only practice, we do hope to expand to a physical location in the near future.
Do you take insurance?
We are excited to be in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and United Health Care of Texas. If you are not in network, we can provide a super bill for clients to submit to insurance for the possibility of reimbursement. We also offer several affordable payment plans for self-pay clients.
How do I take care of my body and mind?
Diet and the choices we make around food/body image can also be greatly impacted by our mental health! I often refer clients to work with Joslyn Ridgely, M.S., LPC. over at Cosmic Cottage Therapy. Joslyn specializes in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, poor self esteem/self image, and overachievers. She is in network with the following insurances: Cigna, Aetna (BCBS Texas and UHC coming soon). She offers in person services to clients located in Roundrock/Austin, Texas, and Telehealth appointments to patients located in Texas.
